On the Belarus event in the Council of Europe’ Headquarters

On May 12, 2015 the Belarusian event took place in the Headquarters of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. The short film “Shoes” and the exhibition of pictures “War and Peace with children's eyes” were demonstrated.

The short film “Shoes” was produced by professional teams of Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Poland, Russia, the USA and Ukraine in remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust.

The film is dedicated to the life of a Jewish girl in 1930s-1940s that is shown through the story of her pair of shoes starting from the purchase and ending tragically in the mass grave of the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The exhibition “War and Peace with children's eyes” was created by the children of Zhdanovichi school for children with hearing impairment (Minsk Region).

The event was opened by Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in France Pavel Latushkа.

Mr.Latushka thanked Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland and the CoE Staff for this opportunity to organize the project  dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World war, in the Council of Europe building for the first time in the history of Belarus and the Council of Europe relations. Mr.Latushka underlined the importance of historic memory of the Second World War.

The Ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic missions at the Council of Europe and the Staff of the Council of Europe took part in the event.
